September 2011. A large number of audiences gathered outside the
District library to have a speck of the spectacular event ! Bhaona
parties from different districts and villages came to take a part in the
event.

MA Course in performing arts Launched in Dibrugarh University.
The Dibrugarh University has launched it's newest course in the history of Assam. MA in Sattriya dance ( Performing Arts ), the inaugural ceremony took place in the ceremonial hall in the eve of 23 September 2011, with the presence of the Honorable chief guest Dr Nagen Saikia and respected Mrs Dolly Das and Mr Hasan Shariff, after performances by the students of the institution, the respected guests presented their views concerning the auspicious event. Mrs. Dolly Das also presented a song performance during the programme.

Assam's land to > Bangladesh !
People are seen full of rage as PM Dr. Manmohan Singh announced the hand over of portion Assam's land to Bangladesh ! The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) burnt the dolls of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister in public places in different parts of the State and threatened to intensify the movement if the agreement is not scrapped off !
Assam dwells with the fear of a mega earthquake !
Sept 19.As the heavy earthquake from Sikkim rocks parts of Assam's and it's inhabitants, people fear of a mega earthquake that may strike the city, as one by one more than 3 times the earthquake shook Sikkim and corresponding the North East region itself. The earthquake took place in the eve of 18 September 2011, around 6.11 pm the 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Sikkim and later on 6.23 a 5.4 magnitude.The earthquake has nearly killed 74 people.and more than 400 people have been rescued by helicopters. The earthquake has left tremendous loss of life and property for the people.

Quake rocks Assam !
Today ! A massive 6.8 magnitude rocked Assam and it's inhabitants as houses and streets shook like anything. The quake started in Sikkim (west of Assam) where people are estimated to have died is 29 currently. There were 2 quakes that rocked Assam, one took place around 6:11 pm and the other on around 6:25 pm. keep tuned for more !
