With flood situations worsening in the state, people's lives have become a menace, with water rising in the river beyond the critical point, in the past 24 hours the Assam government has held an emergency meeting with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority ( ASDMA ).
According to the latest information from water resource departments, 2 embankments have been breached, one in Dhemaji and the other in Sivasagar dist.
Many people have been reported missing, when a boat overturned on Tuesday. The water resource department officials said that the water level at Desangmukh in Sivasagar dist. on Tuesday morning was flowing 1.62 m. above the danger level. ( Highest recorded water level in the Brahmaputra in the are since 1988 ). The water level in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia is normal, but rising in Jorhat dist.
